Marquesas/Hiva Oa: Atuona

Atuona is the main town on Hiva Oa island, located in a picturesque Atuona bay. The town is tiny and really consists of a couple of streets, two shops, one post office (hardly open), tattoo parlor, and a school. The town’s Calvary cemetery set above the town is much more famous having the graves of Paul Gauguin and Jacques Brel.
