Mexico/Veracruz: Cordoba

Mexico also has its own Cordoba town in the state of Veracruz. Away from the shore and higher in the mountains, Cordoba is famous for the best coffee production in Mexico. The town was established in 1618 and was a major bastion against rebel attacks from the mountains as well as a trading center connecting Mexico’s heartland and the Gulf of Mexico ports. One of Cordoba’s most beautiful locations is its zocalo aka main square, called the Parque de 21 de Mayo. The square uses the traditional Spanish layout – Cathedral on the east side, the Palacio Municipal on the west side l, and expensive old schools restaurants and other establishments on the north and south sides.
