Oman: Muscat – Sultan’s Palace

Al Alam Palace is one of the six official residences of the Oman’s Sultan, it’s mostly used for official ceremonies and events. The waterfront palace takes several city blocks and is fully gates with access blocked by fences and gates. The palace itself is over 200 years old, but was nearly fully rebuilt in 1972. While the palace is off limits, the beautiful landscaped grounds are easily accessible to anyone and the guards are super friendly. The palace itself is both lavish and elegant at the same time, almost humble in its design.
