No visit to Ljubljana should skip the bustling morning market located right in the heart of the city on the Vodnik Square. The market has been a feature of the city since 1931 and has kept this piece of the most expensive real estate in Ljubljana empty and busy every morning with farmers from near and far selling their produce. The open market features fruits and vegetables, as well as Forest berries and mushrooms (and the Slovenian specialty of Istrian truffles), while the covered market has meats and cheese and diary.
