Canada/Newfoundland: Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve
Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve is a botanist’s paradise. The area is covered by exposed calcium-rich limestone shale that allows for a diverse and unique dwarf flora that is often endemic and found nowhere else on Earth. The seemingly desolate area of permafrost ground has more then 300 plant species growing here. Yellow Lady’s Slipper can be found here. Another unique species is the carnivorous Butterwort with strange-looking purple flowers.
