USA/CA: Death Valley NP – Eureka Dunes

The Eureka Valley Sand Dunes are a lesser known attraction in the Death Valley National park, mostly because it is located in the far north of the park, away from major roads or other attraction, and on a very hard to drive-on gravel road through mountains. Too bad… Because the dunes are spectacular, in fact, they are the highest sand dunes in the USA, rising to 680 feet /207 m. Hiking to the highest dune seems easy but is quite an effort as for every step you make up the dunes, you slide 3/4 of a step back.
