New Zealand: Tongariro NP – Tongariro Alpine Crossing (part 2)

The second part of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is mostly hiking along the high plateau with the views of volcanic peaks around – both close and far. A stunning attraction along the way is the Red Crater. Right after that, you come to even more stupendous emerald  lakes – so bright in color due to the various minerals coming from the surrounding rocks. The descents continue with panoramic views to the north and amazing alpine flora on the ground.
