New Zealand: Craters of the Moon Thermal Area
Craters of the Moon Thermal Area is a region of geothermal activity near Rotorua – this one features many fumaroles, steaming vents, boiling lakes, several craters, bubbling mudpots, and the combinations of all of the above. Most of the ground here is overheated and the vegetation is sparse and poor. Boardwalk trails lead you around all the features and close up to many of them.
