Belgium: Bouillon
Southern Belgian province of Luxembourg is just stunning (not to be confused with actual country of Luxembourg just next door). The town of Bouillon sits on a horseshoe of the riverbend of Semois and in the highest point stands the Chateau Fort, which is actually the oldest fortress in Belgium – it was built in 1050 on a site of even earlier fortification. The views from the fortress down onto the river and the town are purely surreal as are the catacombs and passageways within the fort’s interior. Oh and then descending down into the town via a forest pass I found loads of wild strawberries!
