Luxembourg: Clervaux

The northern Luxembourg is the Ardennes plateau with small medieval towns with castle and stunning setting all around. One of the most scenic of them is Clervaux – lying in valley around a river bend, it has a beautiful white-washed Clervaux Castle and a twin-towered Church Saints Cosmas & Damien. And just up the steep hill is an imposing Abbey of Saint Maurice. The town is more of a village – you walk around the castle and you are basically done, but it’s spectacular in every direction you look. There is also a spanking looking American tank near the castle as a memory for the fierce battles going on here in WWII.
