USA/MD: Baltimore – National Aquarium
The national aquarium in Baltimore is one of the largest aquariums in the world, holding 17,000 animals and fish representing over 800 species, swimming in over 8 million liters of water. It was one of the first museum I saw back in 1992 when I came to the USA as a an exchange student. The acquisition takes multiple floors of a sprawling futuristic glass building in the heart of the Baltimore harbor. The massive pool with sharks and stingray is particularly awesome and you can walk underneath it. There is a floor about the habitats of the Chesapeake Bay, and Great Barrier Reef, the Amazon River jungle, and many other. You could spend a day here, easily! Especially awesome was the temporary exhibit dedicated to jellyfish, glowing and gliding in lit up transparent glass exhibits.
