USA/AL: Mobil – Battleship Memorial Park USS Drum & More

Another star attraction at the Battleship Memorial Park near Mobil in Alabama is the USS Drum submarine from WWII (also known as SS-2). The sub took active part in many of the battles in the Pacific Rim, sinking Japanese battleship and aircraft carriers and evading depth charges and deep sea mines. You can walk on top on the submarine and then descend inside where you can experience what it was like to live in the tight quarters of this metal coffin packed with torpedos and people. One done with the submarine – there’s some much more to see at the Battleship Memorial Park – bombers and fighter jets from WWII and Vietnam Wars, helicopters, patrol boats, missiles, trucks, tanks, and so on and so forth – you can easily spend a day here.
