USA/TN: Memphis – Beale Street
Memphis is the heart of blues and rock’n’roll, and it’s here where both music styles were born. The Beale street is the heart of Memphis and is lined up with iconic historic establishments. Usually packed with tourists, but absolutely desolate now, the stroll along the star-studded Beale Street is the must-do when in Memphis (even if you are not a blues fan).. Here you get Memphis Music Hall of Fame, Orpheum Theatre, Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum, WC Handy’s House, and many other historic attractions are here. Also worth a stop is the famous A. Schwab goods store founded in 1876 with the motto “if you can’t find it at A. Schwab, you don’t need it!” The Beale Street is lined with restaurant, bars, and clubs – Coyote Ugly being the most infamous – now virtually all empty. Finally, Memphis is home to the Memphis dry-rub bbq ribs – you can’t say you’ve been to Memphis without sampling (and to ally pigging out) on the succulent ribs.
