Mexico/Veracruz: Orizaba – Iron Palace & Gran Cafe
You can’t visit Orizaba in Mexico without stopping at the Gran Cafe inside the El Palacio de Hierro aka the Iron Palace. This used to be the old city hall building, built in 1891 and designed by Gustav Eiffel himself, with 600 tons of Belgian steel shipped from Europe and assembled into the building in Orizaba. Nowadays, there is the Gran Cafe de Orizaba, serving seemingly every variety of coffee styles and preparations imaginable, couple with coffee-inspired deserts and ice-creams.
