Iceland: Eldhraun Moss Lava Field
As you drive through southern Iceland, there are miles and miles of lava flows. Older ones, like the massive Eldhraun Lava Field and the surrounding areas, are covered in knee deep moss that look like an aliens planet, like something from Avatar, a mossy version. Hiking over the moss-covered rocks, you sink knee deep in the soft moss. With loads of crevices, caves, and holes, it’s a virtual fairy tale maze of soft pillow-like ground, that is just begging for you to take a nap under the Icelandic sun.
