Iceland: Fjadrargljufur Canyon

Fjadrargljufur Canyon (try to pronounce it three times, it means “feather river canyon” in Icelandic ) is a 3.2 km long canyon near Skaftárhreppur in southern Iceland. A river cut a deep ravine in the ground and you follow the other to the edges of the canyon and overlooks offering views down into the chasm. The canyon has steep walls up to 100 m (330 ft) deep. This spectacular Icelandic attraction was little known until it was featured in 2019 in a Justin Bieber video, which caused an avalanche of visitors so the canyon had to be closed before the paths and viewing platforms were built.
