Israel: Jerusalem – Western Ramparts Walk
Having done the walk along the eastern part of the wall, it was quite interesting to do the other side, going west from the Jaffa Gate and toward and over the Damascus Gate and then onto the Lions Gate. The views are quite panoramic and you walk in very close proximity to many mosques near the ramparts in the Arab Quarter. The Damascus Gate is one of the most spectacular and grand in the old city, it’s quite busy with markets and vendor and watching all the action from the height of the ramparts it quite unique. The area of the Lion’s Gate, facing East Jerusalem is also full of historic structures and panoramic views toward Islamic cemeteries outside the old walls.
