Colombia: Leticia
Letitia is Colombia’s southernmost point me access to the Amazon river. The tri-border area with Peru and Brazil has no effective border – you can cross into Brazil or take a boat to the other bank of the Amazon in Peru without any custom stamping formalities. In the 1930s, Colombia and Peru fought over Leticia in a border war that only ended with the League of Nation help. Letitia is a pleasant little town to roam around – trying weird local Amazonian juices, looking at many wall murals, and relaxing in the Central Park in front of a pretty church.
