Colombia: Leticia – Municipal Market

Leticia being a border town and also a river port has quite an interesting market right next to where all the boats arrive and depart on the Amazon. Lots of fruits and vegetables, many very exotic Amazonian fruits, and of course fish. From the giant pirarucu (a prized Amazon fish that can reach 3m in length) to candiru and piranhas to armored catfish (absolutely weird looking) to plenty of other bizarre fish species. This is a real market where produce from the tri-border Amazonas area is brought and traded, no tourist souvenirs or trinket peddlers here.
