Guinea: Conakry – Grand Mosque of Conakry
The Grand Mosque of Conakry is the fourth largest mosque in Africa built with (surprise!) Saudi money. It’s a very pretty building with thin soaring minarets and a large hall below accomplish 12,500 people (with the large yard in front for another 12,000). The body of the former first president of Guinea is interred here in a mausoleum, as well as bodies of several revolutionary heroes.
