Guam: Latte of Freedom
Latte of Freedom to Guam is supposed to be what Statue of America is to the USA – a massive monolith monument standing proud of the western shore. Latte is a traditional Chamorro (local people in Guam) structure that was used as a foundation for the houses of chieftains in the 16-17th century (before the Spanish arrived). The original latter is a stone pillar about 4-5 feet high. The Latte of Freedom is humongous standing on a pier with panoramic views. And while it has nothing to do with coffee, I couldn’t help but think of this as a super venti Starbucks cup of mild roast vanilla milk latte.
