South Africa: Swartberg Pass & Nature Reserve
R328, an unpaved road, leads up and through the heart of the Swartberg mountains over the Swartberg Pass. The road was built back in 1888 and has hundreds of tight single car passable hairpin bends. The drive is not only an adventure with stunning scenery but also a geologist’s paradise as these are some of the rarest exposed geological formations in the world – massive quartzite cliffs.
