Samoa: Seastacks

Turns out Samoa has a very similar story to Hawaii geologically. Both island chains are moving over stationary hotspots in the earth’s crust which form new islands. Just like the Big Island is the youngest and Kauai is the oldest, American Samoa is the third island in the Samoan chain and has a younger and much more rugged mountains and coastline than the other islands. Very different from Samoa and quite spectacular.
