Argentina: Gaucho Culture
Crossing over one of the inner Andean ranges from Cafayate to San Miguel de Tucuman, we came across a gaucho festival. A gaucho is an Argentinian equivalent of the American cowboy, alt though a gaucho is always a horseman. A lot of Argentinian folklore is based around gaucho culture, especially in the vast expanse of central Argentina. For nearly an hour we watched the gauchos practice chasing calves are pins a small enclosure, lasso and whips snapping, and alcohol flowing.
