Argentina: Mendoza Wine Region – Bodegas Salentein
Mendoza and several valleys south of the city are world-famous for its wines, mostly Malbec grown here at relatively high elevations. There are over 900 bodegas and 145K hectares (358K acres), of vineyards around Mendoza There are hundreds of various bodegas/wineries to choose from for your visit, so we decided to pick a variety – from grand and famous to small and little known. The first was Bodegas Salentein in Uco Valley, with vineyards on some of the highest terrain around Mendoza, and fantastic views of the snow-covered Andes. It’s one of the most modern and upscale wineries in the region, with a massive cross-shaped building with huge underground space, housing over 5000 barrels of wine.
