Argentina: San Jose de Jachal
San Jose de Jachal is truly the “middle of nowhere” of Argentina. Really remote in the sparsely populated portion of mid-Argentina, with Andes in the west and badlands in the east, the small town is truly off the beaten path. A nice central square and cathedral, plus a dozen colonial building account for most of the attractions, but it’s great people watching as the place is really traditional and has the Wild Wild West feel to it. Plus we got caught up is a total torrential downpour, which rapidly turned into a flood as the water rushed from the mountains surrounding the town and into the streets. It was some adventure to get back to hotel with rivers of water running down every street.
