Auckland Islands: Hiking Across Enderby Island

A boardwalk leads across the plateau of the entire Enderby Islands, from the Sandy Bay beach to the cliffs of the western coast. It’s an absolutely stunning and unusual landscape of what looked like peat marshland with very unique flora – rata bushes, gentian flowers, mosses and ferns, megaherbs similar to those on Campbell island. And there are also many albatrosses, Southern Royal, nesting here. From the middle of the plateau, you get a full panorama of the Sandy Bay with all the sea lions. Once you cross the plateau, still via the boardwalk, you get to vertical cliffs, being seriously pummeled by massive waves. So desolate, remote, uninhabited, and starkly beautiful!
