Australia: Hamelin Pool

Hamelin Pool is part of the Shark Bay UNESCO World Heritage site. These are living fossils, stromatolites. These shallow water stumps are live bacteria of Cyanobacteria and they have remained as such for the last 3 billion years providing a link to the first life on earth. Only two places with stromatolites exist on earth and one is in Shark Bay in Australia
