Bahamas: Bahamian Food Recap

Conch (pronounced “konk”) probably describes half of all the Bahamian dishes. The massive mollusk is harvested all over the island archipelago and eaten raw as conch salad, or cooked as “cracked conch”, grilled conch, and endless varieties of hushpuppy-looking conch fritters. Other seafood and lobster is also featured on all the menus, accompanied by Bahamian traditional rice’n’peas and egg mac’n’cheese. Bahamas also gave the world two famous cocktails – Bahama Mama and Goombay Smash – both rum-based concoctions that go down easy like you are drinking an innocent fruit-punch.
