Bangladesh: Lalbagh Fort in Old Dhaka

Lalbagh Fort stands as an oasis of tranquility, and empty green space in the mess and insanity of Dhaka. The walled compound with a palace and a mosque inside was built in the 17th century by Mughal emperor and somehow remained intact through all these years. It’s a beautiful and quiet spot not representative of the cacophony outside it. Interesting combination of Indian and Islamic architecture combine in these atmospheric rose colored buildings. There is a rather simple museum inside and walking the fort’s walls gives an elevated view of the city.
