Burundi: Teza Tea Estate
Teza Tea Estate is the oldest and most most well-known tea plantation in Burundi. The plantation spans vast areas and contributes significantly to Burundi’s tea industry, which is a major source of income for the country. The plantation borders and in some places overlaps with the Kibira National Park, one of the most protected track of wilderness in Burundi. Teza sits at an altitude of 4500-7000 ft above sea level, and has been growing tea since it was introduced into the country during Belgian colonial times in 1931.
