Canada/Labrador: Button Island – Polar Bears, Seals & Birds

Button Islands were teaming with life – 7 polar bears sightings (including the one in the previous post), hundreds of seals swimming me hopping in the water and a massive bird colony on the vertical cliffs. A cacophony of sounds and motion! Despite all the animal congregation in one spot, there is very little predation going on. Birds are breeding on inaccessible cliffs, while seals are safe in the water and can easily outmaneuver a swimming bear. Bears mostly lounge all summer waiting for the return on ice in the fall.
