Chile: Torres del Paine NP – Guanacos
Guanacos are the camilds of South America that inhabit the pampas and mountain plateaus in the southern Chile and Argentina. They are the largest mammals of South America and are significantly bigger then their northern wild brethren – vicunas, or the domesticated camelids – alpacas and llamas. Large herds of guanacos can be seen in Torres del Paine where they are well protected.
