China: Leshan Giant Buddha
Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71 m (233 ft) high stone statue built over a thousand years ago between 713 and 803. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is the largest Buddha statue in the world, as well as the tallest statue built in the ancient times. Sadly, this area of China is full of smog and the air is so dirty and dusty that you can almost not see the Buddha’s head from the ground. It’s not fog – it’s all pollution!
