Croatia: Split
Diocletian Palace (UNESCO) is right in the heart of the old city. There are 220 building within the palace boundaries and 3000 people live in here. Cathedral of St Domnius is the centerpiece if the old city, with a belltower you can climb for views of the entire walled town and well beyond. Very crowded bs touristy
