Easter Island: Ahu Akahanga
Ahu Akahanga is another ceremonial platform located on the southern coast of the island. The statues here were not uplifted or restored and are lying around in the state in which the island appeared to the European explorers when they arrived. There are 12 large moai statues here on the ground, some as large as 7 meters long. The site is right on the shore with the waves splashing not far away.
