Easter Island: Rano Kau Crater
Rano Kau is a volcano on the southwestern tip of the Easter Island and it has a spectacular sunken crater with a lake inside. Above the lake, close to the crater rim, is a ceremonial site of Orongo with some ruins. The spectacular almost perfectly circular crater is almost a mile across and has its own micro-climate inside as the crater walls rise up nearly 200 meters above the lake level.
