Egypt/Sinai: Sunrise Montemare Resort
Sharm El Sheikh is packed to the rim with all inclusive resorts. Charter planes from the former Soviet Union countries (Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan) and UK and Italy (before coronavirus) shuttle planeloads of sun-starved tourists that come here on packaged tours, stay at all-inclusives, and never venture outside the gates, preferring to just roast to bright red and drink and eat inside their compounds. While not our cup of tea, it makes sense now when tourist load is low and all these mega resorts can be had for pennies on the dollar. Sunrise Montemare is one of the top resorts in Sharm – located in the best beach, the property cascades down to the water, with white-washed traditional architecture buildings, multiple restaurants, multiple blue pools, rooms with personal pools, perfect beach and lounge chairs right in the surf, and a lot of white marble all around. No need to marinate here 24/7, but good for a few moments of quality r&r.
