Egypt: Air ballooning high above Luxor

A 4am wake up is worth it to be able to jump in an air ballon and rise high above the Nile and the temples and see the sun rise in the east and illuminate the ancient landscape. From the balloon, you can see both Luxor and Karnak temples on the east side on the Nile and the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut Temple, Colossi of Memnon, and 4 other smaller temples on the west side of the Nile. Plus all the other balloons in the air. Our balloon was the highest of all and it was also the only one that managed to drift west right above the tombs while the others went east. After landing, the pilot smilingly informed everyone he violated the 2,000 feet altitude limit for air balloons. Welcome to Egypt….
