England: Castle Rising Castle
There is a small village in the northern Norfolk called Castle Rising and in the heart of it stands Castle Rising Castle. Partially ruined now, it was built in 1138 and passed through many hands of various nobility through the ages, including Queen Isabella. The castle is closely modeled on the Norwich Castle and is considered architecturally to be one of the finest Norman castles in England. Not being restored is actually a plus, as you feel a bit like a tombraider climbing the ruined stairs and peaking out of the ruined windows.
