Eritrea: Asmara Catholic Cathedral

Asmara is a melting pot of different religion peacefully leaving and praying side by side. There are three prominent religious structures that are centuries old – a cathedral, a mosque, and an Orthodox Church. The first is the Catholic Cathedral of Asmara aka St. Joseph’s Church. Part of the country’s Italian legacy, St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral isa large Catholic Church somewhat reminiscent of the classic Romanesque architecture pieces from Italy. The church was built in 1923. It is located right in the heart of Asmara on the main promenade.
