Ethiopia: Simien Mountains NP – On Top of the Bwahit Plateau

Mount Bwahit is actually the second highest peak in the Simien Mountains, just a few dozen meters lower that Ras Dashen, Ethiopia’s highest peak (which is just a few miles away). Its the 13th highest mountain in Africa. It’s a surreal world here of frozen streams, thin air, giant lobelias, 360 views, and absolute end-of-the world feeling. Two more male walia ibex sighted here, right in the top of the ridge near the mountaintop. And omnipresent gelada baboons braced the cold and ice as well.
