Ethiopia: Simien Mountains NP – Upclose with Gelada Baboons

A bachelor group of male gelada baboons were basking on the cliff ridge in the afternoon sun and easily approachable for picture taking. Gelada baboons have a red triangle in their chest which gives them the nickname of “bleeding heart baboons”. The brightness of the red indicates the degree of sexual prowess and maturity. Geladas live only in the Simien mountains of Ethiopia and nowhere else on earth.
