Finland: Tampere

Tampere is the second largest city in Finland, a sprawling industrial town with just a few attractions. Tampere Cathedral, built in 1902 is quite unusual inside with its bizarre frescoes painted by symbolism artist Hugo Simbert, depicting naked altar boys and a red serpent on the ceiling – this ain’t your usual church. Other attractions include the palace-like Town Hall, Tampere Market Hall, orthodox Alexander Church, and several more churches – all mixed in together with industrial sites and factory pipes.
