France: Albert – WWI Museum

Below the basilica in Albert, there is a large underground museum dedicated to World War I. Now I’m usually not a big fan of museums, but this one was quite interesting with massive collection of war memorabilia, centuries-old weapons, guns, grenades, rifles and pistols, clothing, helmets, medals, bottles and so on – it’s really impressive and extensive. Then there are about two dozen war scenes re-enacted in detail depicting both sides – German and British. All this to the sound of exploding mortar rounds and flashing light – you feel like you are in the trenches.
