France: Beauvais – Beauvais Cathedral (Revisited)
The Cathedral of Saint-Pierre in Beauvais was supposed to be the most beautiful, elegant, and tallest cathedral in the world when it was being built in 1230s. Well, those three descriptions don’t always go well together and several elements of the haunting cathedral kept collapsing for being too thin and too tall. The cathedral was never completed but what was built is still the highest vaulted ceilings of any cathedral in Europe up to this day.
