Fresh seafood and fruits – staples of the Polynesian food. The most common fish is the poisson cru tahitiane – raw fish with lime juice and coconut milk. Fresh barracuda, grouper, snapper, tuna, or various lagoon fish like parrotfish it’s triggerfish were also delicious. Exotic fruits like breadfruit, pompelo, fresh coconut, pineapple consumed nonstop. Tahitian beer (Hinano and Manua), pure Tahitian rum, and even Tahitian wine from Rangiroa took care of the alcohol intake. And there were some extreme exotics – like giant clams or the meat of the raw pearl oysters.
