French Polynesia/Huahine: Driving Around the Islands
Huahine is actually two islands connected by a bridge – Huahine Nui and Huahhine Iti (Big island and small island). The small bridge connecting the two is the biggest bridge in the entire French Polynesia. It takes roughly half a day to circumnavigate both islands – with plenty of stops at viewpoints and attractions and to savior a fresh coconut. There are towering mountains, winding roads, incredible vistas, and the beautiful blue lagoon surrounding all this. Almost anywhere you look – it’s a National Geographic-worthy panorama – and this island is not even frequented by tourists (the total number of hotel beds is under 200!).
