Germany: Dornburg Castles

Dornburg Castles aka Dornburger Schlösser are a complex of three separate castles or luxury stately homes on a steep cliff on the edges of a small town of Dornburg. All three castles or schlosses stand on the edge of a vertical cliff with a large terrace overlooking the vast Saale Valley below. The first castle is Alte Schloss, it is the oldest and largest, medieval in style with a mixture of Baroque in it, dating back to the 14th century. The middle castle is Renaissanceschloss, built in 1539 in renaissance style. The third one is Rokokoschloss, from 1774, the smallest of the three and arguably the prettiest, built in the rokoko style. There is a large garden connecting all three buildings.
