Germany: Regensburg

Regensburg sits at the northernmost point of the navigable Danube and as such was a major trading point for the last thousand years. The UNESCO World Heritage town is full of spectacular attractions like the 13th century two-spited gothic cathedral or the 11th century bridge over the Danube. The medieval core has a plethora of old buildings and is mostly pedestrian and atmospheric despite being a bit touristy. Open air cafes are lining up pretty much every street and every square.
